Here's a simple guide to reheating your French baguette or other crusty bread in an air fryer.
Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). If the baguette roll is too big for your air fryer, cut it into halves or thirds.
Run the baguette under cold water for 3-4 seconds, wetting only the crusty side. Angle it to keep the cut side dry and to avoid a soggy interior.
Put the baguette in the air fryer basket and reheat for 4-6 minutes. The exact reheating duration will depend on bread thickness and the air fryer you're using.
Keep a watchful eye on your baguette, ensuring it achieves the perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft, fluffy interior. When it's ready, use tongs or mitts to remove it from the air fryer.
To test its readiness, cut and try some bread to confirm a warm, soft interior and a crispy crust. If it's not quite there yet, pop it back in the air fryer for another 30 seconds or so.
Give your baguette a few minutes to cool, then slice, serve, and enjoy!
Stale baguettes can be turned into croutons for soups/salads, made into French toast, or used in dishes like Ribollita soup, bread pudding, and panzanella salad.
